Knox Pilates Workout is a private pilates studio located in the Farragut Family YMCA. Heather Simmons Alexander owns and operates the studio and has been studying Pilates since 1988. Alexander has taught in Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle and has been a certified instructor since 2000. YMCA members are welcome to participate in any Pilates classes offered by Heather. We will teach your pre-teens all about basic fitness
and how to use equipment properly and safely. This
class is 4 weeks long and you must attend all four
classes to pass. You must reserve your spot at
the desk. Spaces are limited each month.
SilverSneakers MSROM
(Muscular Strength and Range of Movement) T/TH 10:00
Have fun and move to music through a variety of exercises designed to increase
muscular strength, range of movement, and activity of daily living skills. Hand-held
weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance,
and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
SilverSneakers CardioCircuit
M/W/F 9:30 a.m.
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance
power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held
weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact
aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation
exercises.

Schedule
STEP/STEP-ABS A 45 minute class utilizing the step to provide an overall cardiovascular workout. This class is fast-paced and fun with choreography to keep you challenged– come ready to break a sweat! The Step/Abs options will include with an awesome Core routine.
KICKBOX DRILLS & ABS Don’t let the length of this 30 minute class fool you – it is fun but tough. Kickboxing drills will have you punching and kicking while strengthening your core and improving your flexibility. The class will also include floor work to strengthen both the abdominals and the lower back.
WEEKEND WARRIOR Start the weekend off right with this 90 minute workout combining cardio and resistance training. Come each week and find out what this Saturday’s special is – it will bring out the Weekend Warrior in you!
ZUMBA Dance your way to a fitter body with this easy to follow class inspired by music and rhythms from around the globe. This class is more like a party than a workout – bring a friend and join the excitement!
BOOT CAMP A good way to jump start your weekend. Boot Camp starts at 8:05 am sharp on Friday mornings and is designed for the hard-core fitness participant. The instructor will lead you through a variety of drills designed to make you sweat and burn some major calories. This class is limited to 20 participants so please call on Thursday to reserve your spot.
SPIN Group cycling led by Instructor. 45 minute classes that provide a great cardio workout. Appropriate for all levels of fitness – but please come to class 10 minutes early and let the instructor know if you are new to ensure proper bike set-up. Give it a try! Due to the limited number of bikes you must sign up for this class at the courtesy counter or by calling 777-9622. Please come with a full water bottle and towel – you will sweat!
TOTAL BODY Progressive resistance class utilizing a plate-loaded bar. 50 minutes provides a complete weight workout. You will focus on improving your overall strength and body composition. To ensure all participants have equipment please sign up for this class at the courtesy desk or by calling 777-9622.
ON THE BALL This 30 minute class offering uses the Stability balls, Medicine Balls and Bender balls to give you’re a well-rounded workout. Core work is always included.
ARMS AND ABS Who doesn’t want great looking arms and abs? This class will focus on conditioning these muscle groups to give you the look you want.
GUTS AND GLUTES This class will alternate between conditioning the lower body muscles and the muscles of the core. Spri tubing, weights, and/or Gliding discs may be used for variety.
MUSCLE MANIA Get your morning off to a great start when you combine cardiovascular conditioning with strength training in a fun and energizing workout. The Express class is offered on Wednesday afternoons. |
