The Y’s Leader’s Club goes back a long way. The first Leaders’ Corp of young people was organized by Dr. J. Garner Smith at the New York City YMCA in 1885. In 1922 the “Original Leader’s School” was conducted at Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, NC. From its inception, the objective of the school has been to supplement the work of the local associations in inspiring and training lay leaders in the programs of the YMCA.

The West Side Family YMCA and the Davis Family YMCA both have active Leader’s Clubs.
